"Ari, I need you to escort the survivors out of here."

Ari looked into her father's eyes and nodded. She knew what this meant and as a soldier held her emotions back.

Ari ran through the remnants of the small city. Rumblings of explosions and the screams of missiles sounded throughout the area. She held her father's rifle tightly and looked throughout the wreckage. She nudged bodies to make sure they were unsavable. One boy jerked and moved. It was a mother but to Ari's sadness. The woman's lower half was missing from her body. She looked at Ari and revealed an infant in her arms. The desparation was in her eyes and Ari nodded.

(Sorry my iPod died and erased so much T-T I'll write more sorry)

(Sorry I wanted to post RP in this section, that section was for discussing it.)

Ayumu stared at the wall with the same blankness that it contained. White walls, bare of life, color, happiness. Ayumu had been surrounded by white walls for nearly all his life. His deep blue eyes stared into them, feeling the same pit of emptiness and despair that liked to taunt him almost everyday. He sat on a bare cot, a blanket clutching at his shoulders to keep heat in and the bitter cold out. He sat and stared. And thought.

This was how he acted most hours of the day, alone, with only his memories and thoughts for comfort. Though which each passing day, with each passing year, the thoughts-which had been fearful and submissive when he had arrived- grew and became angry, twisted, cruel. Only a matter of time, as some would say, before he spoke his mind.

"Mama?" the little boy whispered questioningly as his mother pushed him further down the hallway. "Mama, where are we goin'?"

The mother looked at him sadly, squeezing his hand as an answer. The hall was stretched in endless white; it hurt his eyes by the impenetrable brightness that consumed his vision. He stumbled with his short legs unable to keep up with his mother's long strides. Every so often they would pass a grey door, but they passed it too quickly to read the words imprinted on it. The boy, who was already sleep deprived from an unexpected wakeup call from his mother, felt a sense of dread and fear churning in his stomach with every step. At the end of the hall was a black door, an anomaly, it seemed to leak milky darkness.

The boy began to struggle, not wanting to go any closer, not understanding why his mother was making him approach. His mother roughly tugged him forward. "Mommy, don't make me go! No, no,
no!"

He suddenly found himself in front of the forbidding door, which began to creak open very slowly, very threateningly. He shivered; clutching desperately at his mother for a sense of protection.

A voice, cool and ominous, breathed from the other side of the door. "This is the boy?"

His mother answered emotionlessly, "Yes. This is my son."

"Mama-" the boy started.

"You have benefitted science and your child's future. Everything you requested is at the other end of the hallway. Goodbye."

"Mama!" His voice came out in a squeak as she began extracting his hands from her person. She held his hands tightly, kneeling so she was at eye level of him. She held her hands around his small ones, he was shivering, and tears brimmed at his eyes. He had a looked of confused fear planted on his face. She kissed his forehead.

"Take care of yourself honey." She stood, her lanky, tall form shadowing his small shaking one. "I hope you understand one day why I did this."

The boy felt a firm arm slip around his waist, preventing him from following his mother as she began to turn away. A bulky man lifted him up like he was a feather. He still faced the white hallway. The boy listened as his mother's footsteps grew fainter, as her image began to fade; he called out for her. He struggled, he kicked, he yelled and screamed, tears sliding down the length of his face. He reached out for her, calling: "Mama! Mama!
MOMMY!!!" He could not see clearly, but he could've sworn his mother began running away from the scene.

He burst into more frightened sobs. He was so scared, so confused. He felt the man holding him begin to back away, closer to the black door. The boy's struggling increased, he clawed at the man's bare arm, and he attempted to bite him, to no avail.

He was set firmly on the ground, a strong hand on his shoulder to prevent him from escaping. He heard the sound of the door close behind him. He swiped his arm across his face. Before him was a man he'd never seen before in his young life.

The man was clean-shaven, a thin line for a mouth that now turned subtly upwards. He had dark, black coals for eyes that seemed to look the boy over in creepy interest. He clasped his hands neatly together.

"Welcome 01." The man purred.

"Ari, you need to move the survivors out of here. We can't defend the city long. We'll be right behind you."

Ari's hands went cold. She gripped her father's rifle and headed towards the collapsed buildings for cover. Missiles screamed and explosions ruptured overhead. Ari looked back at her small group and ushered them forward into a slightly collapsed building. Ari looked across the street to make sure another group of survivors were making progress as well. She knew splitting up in small groups would be faster and more effecient but if they were caught in a gunfight the small groups would be incredibly outnumbered. They'd simply be wiped out.

Ari quickly moved the pace of her group. They were still unsure and judgemental of her leadership abilities. She wasn't her father and she wasn't the son he was supposed to have. People were disgusted by the fact that her father didn't have a son. Her mother died giving birth to her and her father denied wedding another woman. Instead he raised Ari against everything the elders had said. He wanted her to become a leader. He believed she could.

(Sorry I'll write more soon just in a jam.)

Ari's eyes opened. She didn't want to remember anymore. Her eyes shifted and she saw the refelction of glowing milkyeyes staring back at her.

"Bad dream?" Katsu grinned as he sat next to the fire, feeding it roaches and twigs. Ari believed Katsu seemed to never sleep since he constantly took watch and never bothered to awaken others to take turns. He was the most unnerving in the group and most untrustworthy. He always made that clear.

"Every killer regrets." She replied. "Liquid will regret trying to kill me."

Katsu's grin became wider.

---

"You cannot ignore global terrorism. It's a real threat. If our armies are divided and weak we definetly do not have a chance in stopping these radicals." Ocelot replied to the leaders of the world.

"You honestly believe we will let you control the world's armies?" A leader remarked. "Terrorism has become a problem but giving our armies to an ignorant fool would be an even more greater threat."

"I am the reason the last war ended in peace." Ocelot remarked. " Last time I checked. You were completely destroyed by the enemies forces. You shouldn't even be at this conferance Armac! You betrayed your people and your country to save your own skin!"

"We cannot give you power of all our forces Ocelot. It's a ridiculous and absurd idea. One man with that much power cannot exist. We are still determing if global terrorism is a real threat." Another man rose from the end of the table.

"I believe that you aren't fit to be supreme Chancellor anymore Arnolds. The Americans haven't led a solid fighting force after the destruction of the California by the Chinese. We can't have private military contractors to exist. We constantly say we are united and we want peace but with these armies not even led by nations have become more like mercenaries. If this continues the allegience of the PMC's will not be to you or me but too whomever pays enough to hire them." Ocelot smirked.

"This is an outrage." Arnolds replied. "You can't be serious Ocelot."

"I know for a fact that if we don't unite blood will be spilled." Ocelot began walking out of the room. "I will make sure if anything happens the people know about it." Ocelot walked off.

"Talk! You and I know what will happen if you don't."

"You've tortured me for days. Barely kept me alive. What do I have to say? Screw you!"

The man took another hit to the face and sat, bound to a chair. His hands manked, his body littered with cuts and his face bruised. He just stared into the single light that barely filled the void in the room.

"He doesn't get it." The other man replied and pulled out his gun. "Lets prove it to him he has no choice." He fired a shot into the glass window of the door. He lifted a shard and forcefully placed it inside the prisoners mouth. They proceeded to slam his jaw with the pistol until the man gmcoughed and sputtered. "You shouldn't have turned traitor, you were one of the best and I'll be partly saddened to kill you but you can atleast partly redeem yourself for us. Tell us the information now and I'll asure you a quick death."

Kill just spat out the bits of flesh and blood. His body shuddered and he looked up. "If you weren't so blind you'd realize the mistake you are making my friend."

"I think you are making the mistake. I don't think he'll reveal anything." The man raised his gun. "Goodbye, Kill." He raised his firearm. "Your just a dead man now."

"Remember, I was one of the best."

The single shot rang out...

"You killed both men?" A man sat across from Kill. Smoking a cigarette and wearing a fine suit. The two bodies laid before them and Kill held the shard in his hand that he used to escape.

"Amazing how idiotic some men can be." Kill replied. "No way I could have escaped. You bastards planted a chip in me. I know what it does to the men you don't like." Kill turned to the man. "Remember, I used to work with you."

"Yes but I turned out to become a well respected man and you turned into a well feared mercenary. I've always wondered why, Kill. Always thought you were a little insane though."

"Well, you never saw what I saw on that day Dram. No matter how much you don't believe me." Kill replied. "Lets get down to business though. I know I can't escape. Even If I killed you I'd just be stuck seeing your face in hell." Kill coughed up some more blood.

The man handed Kill a bottle of water. "I know you work for Core and I need information to bring that organization down. I wanted you to give me information about it but after seeing you obviously haven't lost your touch. Why don't we do one last mission?"

"Well I'd say fuck you but I know that isn't an option. I Aldo know your not stupid enough to work with me." Kill replied testing the water before drinking it.

"Thats exactly why I hired one of Hykos's experiments. Some kid, subject 1 or some unimportant number. He will be working with you while I will be part of your communications."

"... You want me to be a babysitter? I'd ask you to kill me now but I'd be afraid you'd take that literally." Kill replied.

Dram laughed. "To sweeten the deal. I'll erase your file from the Peace database." Dram grinned.

"I know I can't take that word for truth but I have no choice. Bring the kid In."

Roleplay 1 Empty Re: Roleplay 1

Post  Dullahan Shadow Mon Apr 25, 2011 10:58 pm

(Get ready for a long one!)

Ayumu heard a subtle ‘click’ as the door slid open. He fixed his dull blue eyes towards the shadowed figure that enter his… his… his… He scrunched further into his blanket, shying away from the hulking form before him. Without a word of warning, the bulky male ripped the blanket off him and hauled Ayumu to his feet.

He was pushed none too gently out of the room and down a hallway that held so many memories and very few of them happy. He shut his eyes blocking the most painful ones that attacked him with sharp jarring spears. It was better if he didn’t remember, but that didn’t stop the bombardment of images.

”01 this girl is 03,” the man with coals for eyes informed him. “You are to care for her.” Before him was a small russet haired girl, her fists were clenched tightly, and her mouth was set in a fierce scowl. She looked to be at least 7 or 8. He was 9, she was a bit older then he had been when he’d been left here.

“My name is Sam, you bastard!” she turned to the man kicking him with all her might in the shin.

The man grimaced, “Teach her some manners while you’re at it. I suggest soap as well.” He pushed her roughly forward; she nearly tripped but was caught by the boy in front of her.

The man turned to a guard ordering him to escort the two children to 01’s room.

When the door slid closed with a ‘click’, he climbed onto the bed, covering himself in his blanket once more, away from the outside world. Nothing good ever came from out there.

Something poked him. He lifted the cover off him hesitantly.

“You don’t talk a lot, do you?” The girl, Sam he reminded himself, looked at him questioningly.

He shook his head ‘no’; she grinned and hopped onto his bed. He flinched,
his bed. “What’s your name?” She smiled; one of her front teeth was missing.

“01,” he relied meekly.

“No silly.” She poked him, “Your
real name.”

“… I don’t remember.” He replied honestly.

“Oh… well let’s make one!”

Ayumu smiled at that memory, which seemed so far in the distance. Ayumu had never been quite sure how the little girl had come up with his name. It seemed as though she knew the name in advanced. Of course they’d been names like Bob, Joe and Jack, but they didn’t fit. She’d said that Ayumu or some part of his name meant dream.

“Umu?” Sam started one day, swinging her legs back and forth on the bed.

“Yeah?”

“Why aren’t I 02?” Ayumu flinched, biting at his lip nervously.

“02 was here before you, just before you. And he escaped.” Ayumu wasn’t sure what had happened to 02. One day the rambunctious, childish 10 year old there, the next he wasn’t. Not long after Sam arrived.

“He did?!” The little girl exclaimed leaping to her feet. “That means we can too!”

He gave her a hesitant smile as a response; she took it as a yes.

Ayumu glanced at the white paneled floor, his feet shuffled monotonously against it. His hand crept to his neck, feeling the pale scar that ran across his collar. It had been nearly 5 years since he had received that wound, the wound that broke him.

”Come on Umu!” the 13 year old girl called as their shoes slapped across the hallway floor. “We’re almost there!”

Winding down the passageway that appeared longer and more twisted than he had remembered, he and Sam moved in much hast. It had been mostly luck and time that had assisted their escape. Sam’s hand was tightly clapped onto his, urging him forwards without breaking a breath.

Ayumu glanced nervously behind him, not to his surprise, the same guards men in black uniforms were following them and catching up. He looked at Sam as she navigated the passage onward, she was his best -and only- friend, she was like a sister to him, someone who took care of him just as much as much as he did for her. She had given him his name, she had given him his voice, and she had saved him from the pits of fear and solitude that had been enveloping him.

And they were almost there, so close, yet Ayumu felt that the men would catch up; they would lock them up again. He couldn’t bear to be locked up again, but it would be even more unbearable to see Sam trapped alongside him. The exit was approaching faster and faster, Ayumu’s legs felt weaker and wearier. Sam grasped hold of the door handle and looked to him.

He turned to the auto-lock computer, closing his eyes right in front of it. He searched for the last used code, and unconsciously typed in the coded entrance. As the door hissed opened, Ayumu opened his eyes to see Sam’s eyes glistening with excitement. Ayumu flinched hearing the thundering footsteps approaching ever closer.

With one last look at Sam, he pushed her through the open door. “Umu, what are you-”

“Go,” he urged, “Before it is too late.”

“Not without you!” But the door had already shut abruptly. He heard pounding on the door, and then Sam yelled through the door, “I’ll find you, I’ll get you out! I promise!”

Ayumu stood in front of the auto lock with a surge of unnatural anger he kicked the keyboard destroying it after a few well place hits.

“That was very aggravating 01, having these men chase you down, and now that entire keyboard will have to be replaced. Rather unnecessary.” The man, the same antagonistic man who had taken him from his mother, stood before him. He walked towards Ayumu, “Shame to loss 03, not that she was all that helpful. Not like you, dear boy; such an obedient child.” He flashed a white smile, grasping hold of Ayumu’s chin.

Ayumu glowered at the man, turning his head away, “And I see you’ve improved your skills, very good 01.”

“My name is Ayumu.” He said softly.

“What was that?”

“I’m not 01. My name is AYUMU!” He voice increased in volume. The man chuckled mercilessly.

“Is it now?”

“Yes.” Ayumu stared straight at him.

“Well, I’m afraid that just is not so. You are what I call you. I own you dear boy; I have since the day your mother chose a life of riches over you. Now, to your room.”

“My name is Ayumu. I have a voice, you can’t control me. I have a voice!”

“And that’s where you’re wrong.” Arms wound around him, dragging him down the way he’d come. All the while he was shouting repeatedly his name, his voice. The man led them to a room that seemed like a void of white. They strapped Ayumu down, he yelped as a syringe was inserted into his arm.

“There is no need to inform Hykos about this, yet.” The man told another.

“I have a voice,” Ayumu mumbled tiredly. The man glanced at him pitilessly, shaking his head in disappointment. Ayumu’s vision began to blur. “I have a-”

Those had been the last words he had spoken. The scar was a painful reminder that he would never speak again. Hykos who was a decent- if not desperate and a little crazy- guy, he’d been infuriated that 01 had been tampered with and that 03 had runaway. Ayumu missed Sam, but he didn’t want her to see him in such a pathetic state. He kept on being experimented on, like a lab rat, he had the knack for being able to do just about anything with technology and Hykos had taught him to sense and listen to people’s brain waves and communicate in ways other than writing. As weird as it sounded it actually worked.

When he stepped into the room- he didn’t pay attention to where they were going so he had no clue where he was- he found two men, one bloodied but around his age, and- was that two dead bodies? He heard the door click behind him and lock.

“Stupid, idiot boyfriend,” Sam mumbled under her breath, running through the alleyways in hast. She continued to murmur to herself, the shuffling of her feet on the cold pavement was the only other sound. Kill rarely got into deep trouble, but when he did it was because he underestimated who he was fighting… or he was acting cocky and idiotic.

They, Kill and she, had known each other for almost five years, after he nursed her back to health when being caught in the crossfire of a street battle. She’d been newly turned 14 at the time, she was the only one who kept track of age- believing it that it was as much as part of your identity as your name. Kill was the same age as Ayumu… She missed Ayumu. She’d promised to save him, and yet, here she was 5 years later still unable to find him.

She had searched, but over the years of no success, she wondered if it could be found, if it even existed. It was though it had vanished into thin air, leaving all trace of her close friend to the wind. She felt ashamed that she could not find the one person who, at the time, meant the whole world to her.

She glanced down at the tracking signal, the little red dot blinked hypnotically. She smiled; she knew it was a good idea to put a tracking chip on him- though of course he did not appreciate that fact. But after all, you never knew when your boyfriend will be taken by masked men with ill intentions. She laughed at the ludicrousness of it all. She approached a starch white building, and a familiar air wafted from it. Looking at her tracking device to confirm the location, then around her, she inhaled deeply.

“Here goes.” She slinked to the front entrance, double doors that could be mistaken for any common building but it was almost as though it repelled the common folk. She clutched onto the door handle and stepped inside.

More white swarmed her, at the end of the hall, was the black door, the door that had trapped her and Ayumu for so long, that still trapped him. Her eyes shot down the tracking device. She was torn, Kill was in a room a few doors down… but after all these years, here she was…

If Ayumu was on the other side of that black door, she would have a better chance finding with someone else by her side. The door was surprisingly unlocked.

She saw Kill at the center of the room, smiling, “Ah there’s my damsel in dis-” the words stuck in her throat seeing the other occupant of the room. Her eyes searched the face, her mouth stuck in a ‘O’, she rushed forward.

“Is it really you?” She waited for a reply but he gave none.

(I wanted to add some memories, but I think they would have to be collaborative with Kill. But here's something to do. <3 )

The sound of a shot rang throughout the room. Blood began to pour from Ayumu's shoulder. The man across from Kill lowered his weapon and readjusted his sights. "I don't like being interrupted." He reloaded his weapon and aimed it at Sam. He seemed faceless, even as he talked his face revealed a lack of emotion.

The room became silent again.

"Don't let us stop you," Sam mumbled under her breath, glancing at the gun pointed at her without interest. Her concern was towards who she strongly believed was her childhood friend, whose shoulder was bleeding profoundly. He appeared, though of course older, just like he had when she'd last seem him. Except, what was that pale scar across his neck, why didn't he respond to her? What had they done to him? She gave him a sideways glance; he looked away, as if ashamed for her to see him. He grasped on his shoulder, clenching his teeth to block the pain. Not that he could give any noise of pain asides from grunts.

Fixing her attention back to the problem at hand, she pulled out her weapon of choice, aiming it at the man. "Finish your conversation, and then I'm taking my boyfriend and leaving." She glared at him. To emphasize her point she pulled back the hammer of her gun. "Well, get on with it."

Post  ShirubaDangan Wed Jun 29, 2011 1:12 am

Ari thought, no age wished she was in heaven but as seconds passed the blinding light began to dissipate and the screams and shrieks of terror replaced them. He'll began to take shape in front of her and she watch as soldiers began stabbing at bodies to make sure no survivors were left. She stared at the bodies of the group she promised safety and refuge too. A small crater had formed in the middle of the street and she could feel fragments of metal burning her face.

Her body froze. The sound of an infant crying broke the silence and all the soldiers turned towards the sound, towards her. The body of a woman lay in front of her and in her arms she held her child.

Ari's mind raced frantically and Her hand gripped and all too familiar tool. Quickly without thinking she moved up from the ash and unleashed rounds into a few nearby soldiers. They screamed and were caught by surprise. She quickly grabbed the baby from the woman's grip and rushed through a burning building. Leaping over burning furniture and squeezing past collapsed doorways. She felt a few stings in the back of her leg and forearm but she continued. She made it towards the allies and sprinted forward. She looked down the alleys for sanctuary but as she last each alley. She saw more acts if brutality. A man walking down a row of soldiers firing a round one by one. Another alley revealed soldiers forcing families into their homes, a tank rolled up and fired a round, devastating the house. She continued to run, her breathing becoming kore irregular. She stared at a railroad at the end of the alley. It was the extraction point.

Shards from a nearby house pummeled into her. She used her body to shield the bundle in her arms. She was almost there. She could see the carts. She made it.

This time it was darkness. Nothing was happening. Everything had disappeared. Everything was peaceful but then she heard crying.

Her eyes opened and she stared at two men with gas masks. One was cleaning the butt of his gun from blood, her blood. The other stared down at her, no not at her, at the bundle in her arms. With all her strength she tried to hold on but her body let go. The man lifted the crying infant from the leg and looked back down at her.

He swung with all his might and with one sickening crack. She watched as the small body in his arms went limp against the train cart.

Another body in this brooding war.

She watched as the man stomped on her face... The guards grabbed her and forced her into one of the carts. She sat against a side and stared at the sky. She couldn't see very well but could recognize the smoke in the sky. She watched before the train began to slowly move. She began to feel someone pulling at her wounds. She pulled away and turned.

"You should help those that are worthy." Ari coughed. The man in front of her didn't seem drastically harmed like the others. The blood and shrapnel on him seemed to come from what he had done on to others. She couldn't see his face well but his eyes were an icy grey. The man pulled out a cantine of water and gave it to her.

She stared at the cantine and turned towards a family next to her and passed it to them.

"Who are you and what's happening?" She asked as her vision began to blur.

"My name... Is Liquid and your going to the he'll that is Vorkuta." The man replied as she closed her eyes, she wished for the last time.

She didn't understand at the time but she just met the most dangerous man in the world. The man that would become the father she lost and the man she would eventually want to kill.

Ari.

The man looked at Sam and then aimed again at Ayumu and fired. The shot just grazed Ayumu's neck. The man's face was emotionless. His eyes weres hiddened by his glasses and the bare hint of a smirk grazed his lips.

"What sets us humans apart? Why do you mind killing me but care about him? We're both humans. Fundamentally the same. Basically we all want the same thing. To be liked, to love, to succeed but we are animals. Humans only ever care about mating and killing. We are sick, beyond saving, even from a so called deity. Humans are simply humans and there's nothing more coolant and monstrous as us. You killing me will prove that point. I will fire another shot at Ayumu's head. You can kill me or I might kill him. I can tell you the third bullet in the chamber is defective but will you really take this chance? My life is in your hands but Ayumu's is in mine. In reality that's how humans are. Controlling. Now make your choice. You can kill me or will you trust me." The man began to squeeze the trigger slowly.

Sam smirked, tucking her weapon back into its pouch, "Wow, that's a world full of options. Aren't I lucky? But, even if I'm not known for being the negotiator, I'll give it a shot. I don't think you have any intentions of killing my friend, since he wouldn't be here if you were. And before you say that that might have been your intentions; I would disagree, since Ayumu is the only success this lab has had and they’re not going to let their prize possessive be, well for lack of a better word, exterminated."

She tucked an auburn lock behind her ear that had fallen loose from her unkempt ponytail. "I cannot deny that humans aren't selfish, that's about as obvious as... well the two dead men courtesy of my boyfriend, Kill. Great job, hon." She winked at him.

"But I'm not going to disagree with you; I know just what humans are like. I'm not sure if they are beyond saving, nothing is beyond saving, but it's no walk in the park." She stuffed her hands in her pocket, walking casually over to the man and her boyfriend. "My point being, lower your gun, loaded or not, no one needs to die tonight- well no one else I suppose," she added giving a side glance to the men in the corner with unmoving chests.

The man pulled out a knife and struck the knife into Kills hand and stabbed it through the table. Before Kill could react. He shoved the table away and knocked Kill over. The man kissed Sam on the nose and tried to trip her.

"I would like to stay but I'm not good at negotiations." He rushed towards Ayumu and retreated deeper into the warehouse with his troops.

(I changed Ayumu's ability slightly)

Ayumu struggled against the man's grip, desperate more than ever to have his voice available to him. But all that came out was a pitiful squeak. He used his free limbs to fight against the man, his right arm was numb from being shot in the shoulder, and his left was being forcefully guided down hallways he had never come across. He was so pathetically weak; he hated how easily he had been carried off. And away from the only person he had considered family. Sam, she had grown up so much, she was so strong, so sure of herself. And here he was, being carted away by the man who shot him... twice! They went deeper into the building, Ayumu then spotted soldiers further up. He tried to concentrate on his ability, but kept getting distracted from being dragged along. He tried again, shutting his eyes, he grabbed hold of a signal but it was quickly lost. He inwardly swore in frustration, resuming to struggling free for all he was worth.

--

Sam looked torn, seeing the disappearance Ayumu and Kill whose hand was punctured into the table. With one more back glance to Ayumu, she rushed to Kill, rubbing her nose while she was at it. Eww. So gross. "Kill, are you alright?" She asked trying to help him staunch the blood flow coming from his hand. She shut her eyes, hoping that Ayumu would be okay, she'd get to him. She'd made a promise and she intended to keep it.

(Sorry it's shortish)

Post  Dullahan Shadow Sun Aug 21, 2011 9:33 pm

The young girl skipped along the sidewalk on her way from school to see what her parents had gotten her for her 10th birthday. The wind ruffled her dirty blond hair as she approached her apartment; she clutched the straps of her juvenile backpack and softly hummed “Happy Birthday”. Upon reaching the somewhat shabby building she called home she was pushed aside rather abruptly by a man who seemed vaguely familiar to her. He had a long burn mark on his face that masked a portion of his copper skin. He spoke no words of apologies for running into her, but quickly brushed past her clutching something tightly to his chest. Now the girl wasn’t one to be simply brushed off, and have no words of apologies be given to her. And since she was 10, she believed it was time to handle it herself.

She tossed her backpack on the sidewalk and pursued the man with a fierce determination. The man walked hurriedly down the street, as if trying to run from something, the girl wondered why that was. She tried to get his attention, calling out ‘mister’ and some other names that weren’t to be mentioned. But the man took no heed of the yelling 10 year old and walked on. They were almost out of eyesight of her apartment. She began wondering if this was such a good idea, after all, one should not talk to a stranger let alone pursue one. And she was really excited for her mom’s cake, it made her mouth water just thinking of it. And her dad was sure to have gotten her that game that she’d been pleading for. Why was she here, chasing a stranger for not apologizing to her?

She was about to turn around and head back home when the man stopped in the middle of the street and turned. What she saw in his eyes struck fear in her heart. The man had a deranged grin on his face and piercing ice blue eyes. He pressed something and his smile broadened. Then the world exploded.

The girl turned slowly, scared of what she might see, at the remains of her home, of her family, of all she’s ever known. Tears and ash stung at her eyes, when she turned to confront the man, he was nowhere to be seen. At the moment, he wasn't her concern. She ran to her home, tears already streaming down her face, sobs choked her as she stared at the destruction. Fire scorched inside the building, crackling and cooking the contents inside. Part of the building was giving under the pressure, ready to collapse. She was ready to run inside and make a desperate attempt to save the people inside, but was grabbed around the waist before she could follow through.

A person had grabbed her before she could run into the building. Screaming and crying she clawed at the person’s arm. He, for that was who it was, held tight onto her. Soon enough sirens screeched over the roars of the flames, her cry and screams were muted by the noise the area now made. The man’s grip slackened and she took her opportunity to run into the nearly demolished building. It took only seconds for smoke to consume her lungs, she wasn’t able to trek any farther before she was pulled from the building and led into safety.

Water was sprayed onto the debris of the building, the fire dying to flickering ember before being smothered out. The girl was huddled on the sidewalk, and blanket hung over her shoulders to block the chill of the oncoming night. She clutched onto her backpack, rocking back and forth, and keeping her eyes glued shut from the rubble. Her eyes had long since gone dry with no more tears left to shed. “Happy Birthday to me… Happy birthday to me,” she quietly sang with a quivering voice.

She didn’t understand what had happened, how she could have lost so much in so little time. She didn’t understand why there would be no birthday cake when she got home. Or why her parents could no longer kiss her goodnight. What she did understand though, was that man, that deranged craze man, would pay for what could no longer be hers. She shook with a furious rage that consumed her. ‘So young,’ they would say. And when she closed herself from everyone, they didn’t question it. And when they saw her begin to play with fire, they thought it a coping mechanism. And when they burned in her inferno, well, they were dead; they couldn’t do a damn thing.

She renamed herself Eris.

"I'm gonna kill that him!" Kill yelled and yanked the knife out of his hand. He caught a glimpse of Sam's reaction and turned. Who was that guy?

Ayumu suddenly stopped. The man holding him slumped and his iron grip slackened. Dram slowed and stared.

"I haven't seen you in a while Dram kun? Messing with Kill lately? I see your new weapon is cute. I might have to borrow him." Rain grabbed Ayumu's shoulder and his wound disappeared. Rain's shoulder began to bleed. He looked at Dram. "What? You don't remember? You tried to discover my power. I let you torture me for months... Then I transfered my pain to your people. Don't you remember? Five hundred dead instantaneously." Rain wore an eye patch oflver his right eye and gauze over his hands. His black hair partly covered his eyes.

Dram slipped a knife from his sleeve. "I remember what happened to your eye." Dram grinned.

Rain looked towards Ayumu. "Whys this kid so special?"

An explosion erupted. Kill turned and sighed. "Looks like my backup is here..." Kill mumbled.

"Let's share the pain." Rain ignited a small explosive from his hand and began to bleed. The same began to Dram.

Dram dropped his knife. "Son of a bitch..."

"Why are you so interested in this kid? I'm only a bit.older than him but he seems to not even have used his power?" Rain played with Ayumu's hair.

"Your curiosity has gotten you killed." Dram smirked.

A group of soldiers raised their weapons and aimed at Rain. Rain turned and looked and stopped playing with Ayumu's hair.

"Is that your girlfriend Kill?" The soldiers looked at them confusedly. Kill and Sam stood behind the soldiers.

Ayumu shifted slightly away from the man called Rain, it frustrated him that he could say no words of anger against these men. Since they had stopped moving, Ayumu was able to grasp onto a signal, and with a deep breath he let a hazy blue screen appear in front of the two men. [What do you want?] He formed the words in his head and the appeared on the screen before them.

Sam sent a fierce glare to the solider who had spoken. "An' what if I am?"

(There's more to Ayumu's powers, but that's for later. So tadah!)

"My names Era and I belong to the UNIR. I don't believe you two can exit." Era looked towards Sam. "This a camp for prisoners of war and any and all involved persons will be executed if they resist." Era grabbed a soldier beside her. "And if you do resist I am allowed to kill all involved individuals." The soldier next to her fell to his knees and collapsed.

Dram quickly looked at the screen. Rain took advantage of the situation and jammed a knife into Ayumu's leg. "Sorry kid but I got to stop him." Dram's leg began to pour blood as he fell to his knee.

Sam let out an exasperated sigh, mumbling to herself about how she so didn't didn't need to waste her time with this nonsense. "I have better things to do then listenen to what you have to say." she glared, but searched past Era to see where Ayumu had been taken.

Ayumu stared wide-eyed, indirectly his thoughts were projected on the screen. [Why'd you do that?] Ayumu now remembered he was in the presense of two dangerous men, both of whom had given him physical wounds. He stepped back uncertainly.

"Don't worry kid. If we use our bodies together. He won't be able to stand. He's loath a liter of blood. If we double that. He'll die." Rain held Ayumu up in a soft but vice like grip.

Dram struggled to stand. His vision blurring. "Indeed, I'm a dangerous man but believe me. I've kept you alive for a purpose. Resist that person and let me kill him." Dram tried to steady his aim. He knew he might kill Ayumu if he fired. "Coward."

Rain just nestled his head against the side of Ayumu. "You can help me kill the man that's hurt you. I'm an experiment he tried to end. Something like you. Everything you believe was hell would have been luxury to me." Rain raised the sleeve of his undershirt and revealed his trembling arm. So many scars covered it. He gripped Ayumu tighter. "You can join me or you'll end up dying. The Fox vaccine was meant to wipe out everything the government has unfortunately created. After that the black market, like this axing have founded the project."

"Hykos needed the money." Dram coughed. "I needed the medicine. Even if you kill me your just prolonging my suffering. The disease he needs to cure involve you. If you kill me you'll die of the same." Dram spat on the ground. "Your choice Ayumu. Save the human race or release a disease to run rampant throughout our world."

Era looked at Sam. "If you understood the good we are trying to do. You would understand that these are necessary evils. If Kill had just cooperated with us, he wouldn't have been forced into this. Kill is the first to ever live through the cell enhancement process. He's technically immortal. It seems though that even though he can recreate cells fast enough with the stem cells he creates with his body. His nerve cells that cause him pain are replicated. So even if I shoot him now. He will feel the pain for years because the memory of that cell is constantly being replicated. A human can only survive so long before his brain snaps from so much stress."

Kill just stood.and looked at Sam. "I can try to handle her. She's a poison and demolition expert. If I know her well enough she's already affected our system in someway. That soldier that fell to the ground was just a distraction and, if we don't hurry, might be the future of us. Also bombs litter the hallway. She wants us to get close but that's suicide. Nothing I'm worried about by the way."

Era smiled. "You should be losingfocus in 32 seconds. Of course Kill I put a lesser dose in you. I want you alive."

Kill pulled out a knife a sliced a cut along his arm. "There's not much we can do but lose the tainted blood. Of course this is why she also wants. We can only hope to live longer this way." Kill turned towards Sam. "Unless you have an idea."

Ayumu stood silently feeling the heavy glare of both men on him, he shut his eyes trying to block out the intense throbbing in his temples. He felt Rain's dexterous fingers playing with the ends of his dark brown locks. So the fate of the entire human race in his hands, certainly no pressure. Ayumu opened his eyes and glanced down at the weakened Dram. It was rather pitiful. Even though he had escaped through the help of this man, well really, had he escaped. Or was he to be carted away to another facility to be used. Rain clenched tighter onto Ayumu, whether for reassurance or something else entirely; Ayumu didn't know. His thoughts wandered back to the problem at hand. Did Dram expect him to just fill into the part as the hero, to forget how he, himself, had been considered inhuman and for him to forget what he'd been put through. Yes, apparently he did.

He stared coolly at Dram with eyes the color of icy water, instead of his usual innocent, sad blue. [Humans are so pathetic, I have no reason to save anything, least of all them. Let them burn.]

--

"Just this." And pulled out her gun, shooting Era in the knee. "Antidote if you will, or the next one goes in your head. And don't say you're expendable, because I know you don't want to die." Sam's hazel eyes burned into Era.

--

A slender woman walked away from a building only to have it spontaneously combust behind her. She continued to walk away from it, humming as she went. "Ashes, ashes and they all fall down." A demonic smile formed.

Kill smirked as Era fell to her knees. "You never were one to think things through."

"Although I am one to take rash decisions!!" She pulled out a vial and slid it across the floor. Kill watched as spinning disks erupted from the floor and spread shards in all directions. The shards implanted themselves where they could and set the walls ablaze.

Kill stood in front of Sam. His arms shielding her from the blasts. He cringed as the pain toppled all the previous pain he had suffered before it.

Rain smiled and sliced his own cheek which revealed itself on Drams face. Dram cussed and gritted his teeth. It's a game he was willing to play and he wasn't going to lose now. He stared at all the options. If he had too he could kill them both but he'd definitely die in the process due to rains power. He couldn't escape either the pain in his leg reminding him of the fact. He stared at Rain as Rain began to smile and muzzle into the nape of Ayumu's neck. His knife dangling in his hand.

Rain loved the turn of events. He hadn't plan for this at all and was far more surprised that this kid would side with him. He had knifed him. Whatever they had done to him it must have been hell. Something he wasn't surprised by but couldn't believe that this facility still exists.

'It wouldn't anymore.'

Rain swung his knife toward Ayumus chest as pieces of wall flew past them. Rain froze and glanced quickly at the opening in the wall. His action froze and his grip on Ayumu tightened. 'He's still alive?'

Kill stared back. '... How!?'

Dram smiled as he watched the situation turn into a standstill. Rain had revealed his weakness. Without his gaze upon him. His curse wouldn't work. Dram inhaled deeply and raised his arm. He pressed the trigger.

'It's impossible, the way hes designed is against all survival...' Rain couldn't fanthom why he was here. His brain raced and he immediately came to the conclusion that this kid was far more important then he could imagine. As he contemplated the thought, his thoughts had stopped. The bullet crashed into the front part of his skull. Rain's grip slackened as he fell to the floor.

Kill turned back to the situation at hand. "Save the kid. I'll work with Era. If we can get out of here there's another way to stay alive from the poison. Grab that man who got shot and chain him up and get out of here." Kill poked her side and took her firearm. "I'll get rid of this facility just wait until you get to a safe area. I can handle it." He began to fire at the soldiers who began to charge down the hall.

Eras breathing stabilized and she watched as Dram collapsed into a pool of his own blood. She struggled to get up and ordered her troops to retrieve Dram and escape. "Also, get Wolf on the line. He will want to know and drop off a foxhound unit. It'll give us enough time to destroy any evidence of what we have done before the UN arrives." She finished and stared at Sam. "The Fox unit. It still thrives?"

"Its still here?"
